Courses Offered

ECE 8620 Advanced MEMS:

This graduate level course was developed in 2006. It covers MEMS development cycle, overview of microfabrication, microsystem modeling, mechanical analysis, thermal analysis, transduction mechanism, case studies: accelerometers, gyroscopes, micromirror, pressure sensors, Fluidic devices, Infrared sensors, and Microsystem packaging. The course includes finite element modeling using COMSOL, layout design using L-Edit/AutoCad, and a long term project with Final presentation. These presentations complement the course material. The course was converted into an intercampus course sharing with Missouri University of Science and Technology (MS&T) in 2018.

ECE 4620/7620 Introduction to BioMEMS:

This senior undergraduate/ graduate level course was developed in Spring 2006. It covers overview of fabrication techniques, BioMEMS material, microfluidic principles & devices, chemical/ wearable and flexible sensors, and biosensors, biomedical microdevices for neural implants and visual prostheses, patch-clamping & single cell based microdevices, micro-electroporation, drug delivery including microneedle, and DNA microarrays, Organ-on-a-chip, cell separation and sorting. The course includes finite element modeling using Coventor, device layout using L-edit, and a long term project.
